As a cultural organization our main goal is to educate our children about our traditions and values. We think it is very important for them to be bilingual and bi cultural. It will make life a lot easier for them knowing two languages and two cultures. This is part of the reason why we promote these values all year round and our doors are open for all Puerto Ricans in the area. We welcome all other nationalities as well as honorary members so they can share their values and traditions with us.
MISSION STATEMENT
Cosecha Borincana mission is to annually
celebrate the Puerto Rican Cultural Festival to
encourage the Puerto Rican community to share
beliefs, values, traditions, folklore and history with
other ethnics groups in the city.
The celebration of this cultural event is also to build
a stronger relationship with people from other
countries and the integration of better
understanding of the community.
In the last twenty five years our community has
double the population, making us one of the largest
minority group in the city. The Puerto Ricans have
contributed to the economic development of the
city by serving the private and public sector. This is the reason why we
came to this great land as any other ethnic group looking to fulfill their dreams and to improve the
quality of life for our families, making the city of
Lawrence what many others immigrants call home.
It is our mission to keep this festival alive and passed on to other generations without forgetting who we are and where we came from.
